Royal Wedding

Prince William and Kate Middleton have been pronounced husband and wife at Westminister Abbey in London today, Friday, 29 April. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as they will now be known, made their vows in front of 1,800 guests and the eyes of the world.

Remembering Elizabeth Taylor

Legendary Hollywood actress and violet-eyed beauty Elizabeth Taylor has died aged 79, Wed. Taylor died of congestive heart failure at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she had been hospitalized for about six weeks.
She was born in London on Feb.27, 1932 to art dealer Francis Taylor and American stage actress Sara Sothern.

Earthquake


An 8.9 magnitude earthquake has struck northeast coast of Japan, Friday at 2.46 pm. local time and triggered a tsunami. The quake the most powerful ever recorded in the country, killing hundreds of people as it swept away boats, cars and houses while widespread fires burned out of control.

Earthquake

On February 22, 2011, a strong earthquake killed at least 65 people in New Zealand's second-biggest city of Christchurch with more casualties expected as desperate rescuers picked through rubble to find people trapped in toppled buildings. It was the second quake to hit the city in five months. The 6.3 magnitude quake struck at lunchtime, when the streets and shops were thronged with people and the offices were still occupied.

Flood in Australia

Queensland has been in the grip of its worst flooding for more than two weeks, after tropical downpours covered an area the size of France and Germany combined. Entire towns have been swamped, more than 200,000 people affected and the coal industry and farming have virtually shut down.

Myanmar democracy heroine Aung San Suu Kyi tasted freedom Saturday for the first time in 7 1/2 years, as jubilant supporters stormed the lakeside compound that was her home and prisons minutes after the country's military rulers authorized her release.The 65-year-old, whose latest period of detention started in May 2003, has come to symbolize the struggle for democracy in the Southeast Asian nation ruled by the military since 1962. Suu Kyi has been jailed or under house arrest for more than 15 of the last 21 years.
