Democracy Heroine

Myanmar democracy heroine Aung San Suu Kyi tasted freedom Saturday for the first time in 7 1/2 years, as jubilant supporters stormed the lakeside compound that was her home and prisons minutes after the country's military rulers authorized her release.The 65-year-old, whose latest period of detention started in May 2003, has come to symbolize the struggle for democracy in the Southeast Asian nation ruled by the military since 1962. Suu Kyi has been jailed or under house arrest for more than 15 of the last 21 years.

Fourteen-year-old Elisamy Silva, measuring 2.06 meters (6'9") tall, of Braganca in the Brazilian state of Para is one of the world's tallest teens.She was forced to quit school because she became too big to ride the bus, now dreams of becoming a famous fashion model.

Eruption

Mount Merapi erupts in Deles village, Klaten, Indonesia, on Saturday. On Sunday Mount Merapi erupted again sending a plume of ash and smoke about 3,500 meters into the air.
